I still think it's incredibly funny when a new Johnny Depp/Helena Bonham Carter film is out the German media is always talking about the 'new Johnny Depp movie' while (for some reason) everyone at uni is calling it the 'new Helena Bonham Carter film'.

"Have you watched the Alice in Wonderland film that came out in 2010?"
"Oh the one with Helena Bonham Carter?"

"Do you know Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? Has anyone of you read the book? I'm sure most of you have watched the film with Helena Bonham Carter."

Poor Johnny.

Throwback Thursday - the day I went to London to look for a place I've seen on a jigsaw puzzle.

And I really found it - even though it doesn't look like it did when the first photo was taken because the cafe (or restaurant) is now an Apple store. But the phone boxes are still there and that was the main thing.

Location: Apple Store near Covent Garden, corner James Street/King Street, London WC2E, UK

Throwback Thursday to 20th of July, 2013 - the day I was so annoyed that I had to hang out the laundry before I could eat some ice cream that instead of doing this I went to the next grocery store and bought ice cream.

After Skype-ing with Nathan the Scot for over an hour he was sick the next day. Apparently the mere view of the Union Jack behind me for such a long time had been enough to poison him. #OOPS

If I went swimming I could take under water pictures. I could. Theoretically. If I went. I just don't go. Because at lakes are people. I don't like people. Why do I even have that camera.

Ghosts!

One ghost. Maybe. According to my sister. She thinks her room is haunted. I doubt it. But maybe it's a cool ghost then it would be... cool.
Not sure if I want to check, though.

Why my sister thinks she has a ghost? She woke me up from my afternoon nap and asked me if I kept turning her duck. The duck is a solar powered moving duck I gave her for her birthday and it really does look a bit creepy. It's standing on her window board and she thinks someone is turning it from time to time. But - why would I come into her room just to turn her stupid solar duck?
My tip: it was the cat. - "Nooo Joshi wasn't in my room!"

Okay then. When I came in her room one hour later she was freaking out because she had been alone in her room, sitting with her back to the duck and according to her the duck had turned again.

Okayyyy...

There are different levels of difficulty:

Level 0 - not difficult at all (e.g. English exams, sleeping)

Level 1 - a tiny bit difficult (e.g. making perfect British tea, eating without choking)

Level 2 - a tiny bit more difficult but still doable (e.g. most homework, getting to college on time with the DB)

Level 3 - difficult (e.g. finding the right bus in London, varnishing the nails on the left hand)

Level 4 - really difficult (e.g. learning a new language, not screaming when a spider’s on the bed)

Level 5 - impossible (e.g. flying, understanding Maths, waking my sister up)

Level 6 - making plans with my former classmate

It's almost 3am, nearly 3 months after I've been to London and now suddenly I realise that the day we've been at Buckingham Palace the Queen was in residence and WHY NOW?!!

Only a fence and some guards and securities and walls and probably dogs separated me from the Queen, isn't that spiffing?!!

Eurovision 2015 – How Sweden Won, Everyone was Against Russia and Germany Got 0 Points for the First Time Since 1965

It’s the day after the Eurovision Song Contest and even though I’m a huge ESC fan – this year was so boring I can barely believe it.

The last years it was all full of glitter, weird clothes, crazy singers, Russian grandmas, vampires, drunk Greeks and monsters. Added to this was a commentator with evil comments for the other countries (who was blown up once – Happy Hunger Games!) and cool programmes between the performances and the results (remember the Glow-flash mob in 2010?).

This year it was 65% ballads, 15% politics, 10% cringe-worthy hosts, 5% boring and 5% good songs. No special outfits, a boring commentator, no vampires – well one or two countries looked like they were about to summon Satan but not as funny as in the last few years. And no glitter.

Compared to all those ballads the Swedish act was great – catchy song, good looking singer, cool effects. So it was not really surprising that Måns Zelmerlöw won. After the Semi-Final some people were complaining about Sweden’s effects because ‘not all countries have the money for those effects.’ Well other countries pay for real dancers. And all countries had some kind of effects – it’s not the Swedes fault that the other countries weren’t creative enough to think of something like that.

When they announced the points I noticed that even though I had been complaining about the political influence before – every time Russia got points I was upset. Because how could they, it’s Russia?! Freaking hypocrite. I know she would have deserved to win because after all the song was okay and she’s NOT Putin. But still… I didn’t want Russia to win.

And now to Germany. Everyone I know had been complaining about how boring the German song was. Because no one could even remember what it sounded like. So for me it definitely wasn’t a surprise when we got 0 points. I was even freaking out every time a country didn’t give Germany points (which was always). For me it was kinda funny.

Of course afterwards everyone was complaining about how unfair the others were for not giving us points… but seriously – if you want to get points send someone special, not the sh*t we sent in the last few years. Because we had some cool people who wanted to go to Eurovision, but the jury always decides for the most ‘normal’ ones, and that’s why the special people didn’t stand a chance to win the German preliminary special.

Let’s hope next year’s ESC will be better.

Instead of studying for the commercial correspondence exam I have in a few hours I've been watching the ESC: Greatest Hits show because I can't wait for the ESC and IT WAS HOSTED BY GRAHAM NORTON and also I hate commercial correspondence and I miss London.
