Trooping the Colour Today!!!

I'm way too excited for Trooping the Colour* for someone who isn't even British but OMG royal family and Queen and Prince George!!!

Now I want to go back to London even more!

... Seriously, in 3 years time I will celebrate the 92th birthday with the Queen (because the Queen is immortal and will still be queen when I get to London).

* Trooping the Colour, also known as The Queen’s Birthday Parade, is a military ceremony that dates back to at least the early 18th century. It usually takes place on the second Saturday in June.

Throwback Thursday to 25th March 2015 - the day I met my Twitter friend Bibi

Exactly 14 days after I got back from London I finally had the chance to meet my Twitter friend Bibi. We'd known each other for more than 4 years already, and even though she lives in Munich which is only about 3h from here we had never managed to meet before.

The main reason why I was in Munich that day was that my college had decided to watch the Martin Luther Kind movie 'Selma' and the next cinema that shows movies in the original version was in Munich so - there we were.

Perfect opportunity to finally meet. Cool girl, would meet again. 10/10

Dear grandma,

I really like you, but:

- I have to get up at 5:00am every morning
- I have to be at the train station at 6:30am at the latest
- I won't be back in town till 3:00pm
- I have homework to do for which I need internet
- I want to have a few minutes only for me

So don't act upset when I say I will not come to your place. You get to have my sister all week, but my schedule is so tight the next few weeks that I will not visit you just because you're acting offended now!

Throwback Thursday

If I went swimming I could take under water pictures. I could. Theoretically. If I went. I just don't go. Because at lakes are people. I don't like people. Why do I even have that camera.

Ghosts!

One ghost. Maybe. According to my sister. She thinks her room is haunted. I doubt it. But maybe it's a cool ghost then it would be... cool.
Not sure if I want to check, though.

Why my sister thinks she has a ghost? She woke me up from my afternoon nap and asked me if I kept turning her duck. The duck is a solar powered moving duck I gave her for her birthday and it really does look a bit creepy. It's standing on her window board and she thinks someone is turning it from time to time. But - why would I come into her room just to turn her stupid solar duck?
My tip: it was the cat. - "Nooo Joshi wasn't in my room!"

Okay then. When I came in her room one hour later she was freaking out because she had been alone in her room, sitting with her back to the duck and according to her the duck had turned again.

Okayyyy...

Holiday-Feelings

Had a great afternoon with my former classmate yesterday. It was sunny and warm so we went to a near river and Andy thought it would be a good idea to try to get to the little island in the middle of the river. Problem: the water was colder than expected, the current was stronger than expected and the water was deeper than expected. But we somehow made it without drowning. And without bathing my camera.

Only one thing was not cool - afterwards I looked like the bottom of a baboon. Ouch.

There are different levels of difficulty:

Level 0 - not difficult at all (e.g. English exams, sleeping)

Level 1 - a tiny bit difficult (e.g. making perfect British tea, eating without choking)

Level 2 - a tiny bit more difficult but still doable (e.g. most homework, getting to college on time with the DB)

Level 3 - difficult (e.g. finding the right bus in London, varnishing the nails on the left hand)

Level 4 - really difficult (e.g. learning a new language, not screaming when a spider’s on the bed)

Level 5 - impossible (e.g. flying, understanding Maths, waking my sister up)

Level 6 - making plans with my former classmate

Was at the doctor's today because I needed to get a health certificate. I thought I might have to do some tests or something - but nope.

We were four people, two of us only spoke Hungarian. If she had only given me the documents and I had to read them myself I would've been faster, but instead she read them together with us and after every paragraph she translated it into Hungarian.

Apparently when you are 18 or older you are not checked for contagious diseases when working with food but get a handout saying you mustn't sneeze on the food. What?!

28 May, 2015

It's almost 3am, nearly 3 months after I've been to London and now suddenly I realise that the day we've been at Buckingham Palace the Queen was in residence and WHY NOW?!!

Only a fence and some guards and securities and walls and probably dogs separated me from the Queen, isn't that spiffing?!!

Why I Can't Wait to Move Out

Imagine hearing day after day how poor your family is and how useless you are because you’re still ‘only’ going to school and don’t have a job. Ever since your 14th birthday. On top of that your mum is a horrible control freak.

5 years later you have graduated, passed your driving licence, started with your studies and are doing quite well in most subjects. You rarely meet with friends because you just don’t have any. You don’t drink alcohol, you don’t smoke, but your mum still won’t let you leave the house without you telling her exactly why you are leaving the house, for how long you will be gone, with who you’re going to meet and what you are going to do. If you tell her anything that’s really going on in your life she’s making fun of you and immediately telling everybody. Because you have debts (~ 2,500€) and want to go abroad after you graduate you’ve started looking for a side line. And found a place where they would hire you.

Because your mum has (apart from one or two) all the documents you need in order to be hired you go and tell her.

And she’s screaming at you. Because all those years she was ‘only joking’ when telling you to finally get a job. ‘Because of us you don’t have to work!’

Can you imagine how I felt? I was so angry that I started to cry. Yes, I’m one of those poor bastards who start crying when they’re really angry because the others are so goddamn stupid. Do they really think I want to work because of them?! Of course not! I want to work because I finally want to get rid of those debts that are chaining me on them. And if I don’t start earning something soon I will end up with debts in the amount of 7k when I graduate. I want to work because after I’ve paid back my debts I can start saving up for London, my biggest dream. I want to work because I can’t even buy one DVD a year because I don’t even have 5€. I want to work because I want to make my sister a decent present for her 18th birthday since my parents can’t afford it. I want to work because I want to be able to buy a reflex camera, books, roller skates and nice clothes. I want to work so I have less time to worry about everything. I want to work because I can’t bear spending more time than necessary with my parents.

Is it really that hard to understand?

Eurovision 2015 – How Sweden Won, Everyone was Against Russia and Germany Got 0 Points for the First Time Since 1965

It’s the day after the Eurovision Song Contest and even though I’m a huge ESC fan – this year was so boring I can barely believe it.

The last years it was all full of glitter, weird clothes, crazy singers, Russian grandmas, vampires, drunk Greeks and monsters. Added to this was a commentator with evil comments for the other countries (who was blown up once – Happy Hunger Games!) and cool programmes between the performances and the results (remember the Glow-flash mob in 2010?).

This year it was 65% ballads, 15% politics, 10% cringe-worthy hosts, 5% boring and 5% good songs. No special outfits, a boring commentator, no vampires – well one or two countries looked like they were about to summon Satan but not as funny as in the last few years. And no glitter.

Compared to all those ballads the Swedish act was great – catchy song, good looking singer, cool effects. So it was not really surprising that Måns Zelmerlöw won. After the Semi-Final some people were complaining about Sweden’s effects because ‘not all countries have the money for those effects.’ Well other countries pay for real dancers. And all countries had some kind of effects – it’s not the Swedes fault that the other countries weren’t creative enough to think of something like that.

When they announced the points I noticed that even though I had been complaining about the political influence before – every time Russia got points I was upset. Because how could they, it’s Russia?! Freaking hypocrite. I know she would have deserved to win because after all the song was okay and she’s NOT Putin. But still… I didn’t want Russia to win.

And now to Germany. Everyone I know had been complaining about how boring the German song was. Because no one could even remember what it sounded like. So for me it definitely wasn’t a surprise when we got 0 points. I was even freaking out every time a country didn’t give Germany points (which was always). For me it was kinda funny.

Of course afterwards everyone was complaining about how unfair the others were for not giving us points… but seriously – if you want to get points send someone special, not the sh*t we sent in the last few years. Because we had some cool people who wanted to go to Eurovision, but the jury always decides for the most ‘normal’ ones, and that’s why the special people didn’t stand a chance to win the German preliminary special.

Let’s hope next year’s ESC will be better.
